Elderly man stabbed to death in Underberg
Police in Underberg are probing a case of murder and robbery after an elderly man was stabbed to death just outside his home in Himeville, in the southern Drakensberg area.
It is believed the 59-year-old shop owner was leaving his house in Makholweni when he was accosted by a group of armed men.
Officers say the suspects then demanded keys to the store before attacking him.
KZN Midlands EMS's Derrick Banks says they were called to the scene at around midday yesterday.
"Just after 11am yesterday morning, Midlands EMS were called to a location just outside Underberg where an elderly man was attacked. When we arrived on scene, we found the man outside his home.
Unfortunately, he sustained fatal wounds due to being attacked and robbed. SAPS will be investigating that."
