Elderly man mauled by pet Boerboel
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
An elderly man is recovering in hospital after being attacked by his pet Boerboel in Verulam north of Durban.

Reaction Unit's Prem Balram says medics were called out to Katsura Drive in Trenance Park yesterday.
"Reaction Unit arrived on scene and found that a Boerboel had attacked its owner - biting him on his head, neck and body", he said.
"Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and treated the man before rushing him to hospital", Balram said.
It is understood the 60-year-old was attacked without warning.
Balram says the man was pushed to the ground by the dog - before being bitten multiple times on the upper body. He says the man was able to break free and run out of his property - closing the driveway gate behind him.
