Elderly farmer recovering following farm fire
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
An elderly Escourt farmer is said to be recovering in hospital after suffering severe burn wounds trying to rescue his cattle.
The man in his late 70s was hurt while herding the cows away from a run away fire in the Ennersdale farm yesterday.
Craig Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Services says the farmer was treated for burns on both his upper and lower body.
"He was successful in saving his cattle and none of them sustained any burns but unfortunately he did sustain burns", he said.
"He is now going through quite intensive treatment for the burns and should make a good recovery", Botha said.
