ER24 paramedics say an elderly KwaZulu-Natal couple managed to free themselves and call the police after robbers had fled their house with valuable items.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said the couple were assaulted at their residence on a farm on the D380, about 5km from Nottingham Road in KwaZulu-Natal, on yesterday night.
"It is understood that the couple was preparing to go to sleep when they were assaulted and their hands were bound. It is understood that they managed to free themselves and call the SAPS for help,” said Bodasing.
Paramedics said the couple sustained injuries to their heads and bruising to their wrists.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said the incident happened at around 22:30.
"They tied them up and ransacked the house, before fleeing with jewellery, cellphones, Isuzu bakkie, cash and clothing."
Gwala said a case of house robbery was being investigated and no arrests had been made.
