Eight suspected robbers to appear in Durban court

Eight suspected robbers will line up before a Durban magistrate on Friday after they were apparently caught in the act.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele say four were nabbed on Wednesday night in Berea.


Officers patrolling on foot had spotted them pinning a man against the wall and taking his belongings.


"The suspects spotted the police and ran towards the direction of Syringa Road.


"Police gave chase and arrested all four suspects between the ages of 24 and 33 for robbery. 


"Upon searching the suspects, police found okapi knives, a wallet and a black bag in their possession which were all positively identified by the complainant as his belongings. All four suspects were charged for robbery and possession of dangerous weapons."


In the early hours of Thursday morning, another four suspects were arrested on the premises of a business on Lancers Road, which they had allegedly burgled.


Police say officers found them in possession of various stolen items.


"The suspects aged between 31 and 39 were arrested and charged for burglary and theft. They were also found with various other items in their possession."
