Effective methods needed to tackle HIV prevalence among young women

Government will head to the 21st World Aids Conference in 10 days equipped with ideas of how to better fight the increasing number of new infections among young women aged between 15 and 35.

KZN Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo and Minister Aaron Motsoaledi engaged with young South Africans at a Youth in Dialogue session on HIV and Aids in Durban yesterday.


They heard that more effective methods of screening young girls should be explored. Surprise Ntenga is a medical student from eSikhaweni on the north coast.


"The questionnaires (given to young girls) have become ineffective as young girls lie in these questionnaires," she said.
