EFF ‘vindicated’ by govt’s coal U-turn – Malema
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The EFF says it's been vindicated by the government's
decision to no longer abandon coal as a means to fire up the power stations.
Party leader Julius Malema spoke during a briefing on the outcomes of the EFF's Central Command Team meeting in Johannesburg on Monday.
He says coal is central to South Africa's power generation.
"The EFF was vindicated because it is now accepted that it was a premature decision to close coal power stations or coals central to the generation of electricity in South Africa. The loans to abandon coal were optimistic and driven by the interference of the imperial enforces."

Malema says there are interventions they believe will help secure the country's electricity supply.
"EFF has made proposals and this includes, repairing an existing fleet of power generation and investing in clean coal technologies to increase the energy availability factor, pursue of green households and institutionalised solutions, like embedded generation, investing in the transmission capacity."
