EFF, family to sue government for Collins Khoza's death
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)’s leader, Julius Malema says the party has assembled a legal team to sue the government for the death of Collins Khoza.
The party held a demonstration in solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement in America protesting against the death of George Floyd who died at the hands of police officers.
Khoza died on April 10 in Alexandra after he was allegedly assaulted by members of the South African Defence Force (SANDF) and Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD).
A recent report by the SANDF into his death concluded that neither the soldiers nor metro police were responsible for Khoza's death bringing into question their entire investigation.
Malema told his supporters the fight for those responsible for Khoza's death to be brought to book, is far from over.
"Leave that report by the military which says the military is not at fault, it is friends trying to please each other. We will meet them in a neutral court of law, they will pay this widow, they will pay this family, the children and everyone who was hurt by the nonsensical actions of the military," said Malema.
The party has assembled a legal team with Ian Levitt's attorneys.
