EFF to challenge the removal of its MPs at ConCourt

The EFF is taking its case against the removal of its MPs from the National Assembly to the Constitutional Court.
The Western Cape High Court on Monday dismissed the party's application to overturn the suspension of some of its MPs who disrupted the State of the Nation Address in 2023.

A group of red berets stormed the stage and disrupted the president's address last year. Parliament's Powers and Privileges Committee found six MPs, including EFF leader Julius Malema, guilty of disorderly conduct.
They were handed fines and told to issue an apology.
"This systematic misuse of power and violent repression within parliament mirrors a broader issue of violence in South Africa,” says EFF spokesperson Leigh-Anne Mathys.
