The teacher is said to have been in a relationship with the Ndukwende Secondary School pupil.

Police say the man went to the schoolgirl's home during school holidays earlier this month and during an argument he demanded that she leave with him.

It's alleged when the girl and her mother refused the teacher shot them.

Speaking during his visit to the victims' family, Education MEC Mthandeni Dlungwane condemned the killings.

Dlungwane says it's also unfortunate that society still keeps quiet about teachers dating pupils.

"Our community must come out and give us information because today we established that this teacher has a two-year-old child with the learner.

"No one came forward to say here is a teacher who is in a sexual relationship with the learner," he said.
