Higher Education Dept proposes alternative to walk-in applications
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
The Department of Higher Education and Training says each university in the country has its own registration regime.

The department says it's aware that some universities will not allow walk-ins during the registration period.
Spokesperson, Madikwe Mabotha says most do allow late applications if spaces are available.
"The only alternative available to us is that we recommend prospective students to still use the Central Applications Clearing House which is the online application which would seek to assist students as a last attempt to find placement," he says.
The University of Zululand says it only has 3 900 spaces available for first year students and will not be allowing walk-ins.
UKZN's Noma Zondo says they received more than 95 000 first year applications.
"There are only a few places that are available. We are going to take just over 8000 candidates as first year students at UKZN," she says.
Registration at DUT and the Mangosuthu University of Technology gets underway on Monday.
