Economists project growth in KZN agriculture sector
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Economists are expecting a positive contribution to GDP from KZN's agricultural sector this year.

A discussion was held in Durban yesterday on the region's economic outlook.
FNB Senior Economist, Mamello Matikinca says while the province as a whole is expected to show slightly lower growth levels than the previous year - it is good news that KZN is emerging from the severe drought over the past 24 months.
"We are expecting a positive contribution from that sector, global demand is also picking up which has been positive for commodity prices. This should build well for mining, manufacturing and other sectors that are linked to these two sectors," she says.
Matikinca says construction is another sector that could perform well in KZN.
"Building plans past and building plans completed continue to improve, Specifically residential. We have seen that there's an improvement in the construction of flats as well as town houses," she says.
