EC mom who killed children with sledgehammer dies in hospital

The 32-year-old mother from the Eastern Cape who was accused of killing her four children with a sledgehammer has died in hospital.
Provincial police spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana said Nomboleko Simayile died on Sunday after taking ill while in police custody.
“She reported to the police that she was not feeling well but did not say what the nature of the sickness was. She was then immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, where she allegedly died.”

He said a postmortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of Simayile’s death.
Kinana said she was arrested after her four children were bludgeoned to death in November near Ngcobo.
An Inquest docket has been registered for investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
