East London nanny due in court
Updated | By Olwethu Xabanisa
The woman arrested for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old girl from a township outside East London is due to appear in court today.
Perfect Gift Msesiwe's nanny is accused of taking her to Mozambique in August where she demanded a ransom of R500-000 for her return.
In a joint operation between the Hawks and Mozambican police, the nanny was arrested in Gauteng while two other people were arrested by Mozambican authorities.
Reports say she confessed that she had committed the offence and clues of the whereabouts of the child surfaced.
The child was formally reunited with her parents last week Thursday at the provincial headquarters in King William's Town.
She has been charged with extortion, for illegally being in the country, kidnapping and human trafficking.
Last week on Monday, she appeared briefly at the Vosloorus Magistrate's Court in Gauteng.
