DSW workers protest, waste collection interrupted

Some 300 workers from Durban Solid Waste descended on the South African Local Government Association (Salga) offices on the Berea on Wednesday morning.
Durban Metro Police spokesperson Zama Dlamini says they are holding a peaceful demonstration outside.
"It is in connection with a trial which is scheduled to take place today involving about 700 EPW workers. It’s a peaceful demonstration."

eThekwini Municipality issued a notice on Tuesday, warning residents about a temporary disruption to refuse collection and street sweeping services due to a labour dispute.
Umlazi, Mayville, Berea South, Chatsworth, Bellair, South Coast and the Bluff are some of the areas affected.
The city has asked residents to keep their rubbish bags in their properties until waste collection services resume.
