DUT protests: Campuses remain closed, registration extended
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Management at the Durban University of Technology says all five of its campuses will remain closed until further notice.

The varsity also says the deadline for online registration for first time applicants and returning students has been extended until Friday, the 16th of April.
The announcement comes after protests broke out at the institution’s Steve Biko campus this week. Thousands of prospective students showed up at the campus after seeing messages claiming that DUT would permit walk-in registrations.
However the university says it did not publish the invite and has blamed fake social media posts for the situation.
Management has also confirmed that remote online learning for new students will commence tomorrow.
It says that it will consider and assess the pre-requisites for re-opening and allowing students back on to campus under strict restrictions.
