DUT employee arrested for allegedly raping student

The Durban University of Technology says a student who was raped is receiving support.

The attack is said to have happened at her residence on Quarry Road on Monday.
The alleged perpetrator is believed to be an employee at the housing unit.
"Police in Durban have arrested a 44-year-old man for rape following an incident in which a 19-year-old student was allegedly raped by a man known to her," says KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo.

The man appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
In a statement, DUT says it is fully cooperating with the police in their investigation.
