Ahmed Kathrada has dedicated his honorary doctorate conferred on him by the Durban University of Technology to his fellow comrades.

The struggle hero was awarded the PhD for his outstanding contribution to South African human rights and social justice.
Speaking to Newswatch ahead of the awards ceremony at the university's Steve Biko campus today, the 86-year-old said he was grateful to have been considered for the award - but says his success was possible because of others.
"There are quite a number of people who I knew personally who sacrificed their lives and were not able to see democracy in particular - I always think of Chris Hani and a few others who gave up their lives.
" I wish they were still alive to enjoy the freedom we are enjoying today. So I dedicate this to them,"he said.
