eThekwini says the multi-million rand Durban Beachfront Promenade extension will soon be open to the public.
The City says the R300 million project to extend the promenade has wrapped up, and that members of the public will be able to enjoy the new stretch from next month.
eThekwini spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says residents will now be able to cycle or walk from the harbour mouth to Blue Lagoon.
Mayisela says the next step is the Waterfront development.
"That development on its own is going to unlock an investment worth over R2 billion, that will see the emergence of two skyscrapers that are going to be home to a hotel and also residential apartments."
"There is a shopping complex near uShaka Marine that is on the cards. That on its own is really going to inject some life in that part of the city," says Mayisela.
Mayor Mxolisi Kuanda is excited to announce that a multi-million Durban Beachfront Promenade Extention will soon be open to the public. Tomorrow at 07h30, Mayor will do a walkabout to inspect the breathtaking construction work. #DurbanBeachfrontPromenade https://t.co/M82ehj7GKg
