Durbanites weigh in on Free WiFi on select People Mover buses

EThekwini's announcement that it will test free WiFi on select People Mover buses has been given a big thumbs up by Durbanites.

The municipality's Transport Authority will test WiFi possibilities on 10 People Mover buses that operate in the city centre over the next 9-months.
East Coasters who took to social media to comment on the municipality's plans to roll-out Internet connectivity on the buses welcomed the move. They described the initiative as a great idea saying it would further enhance the service.
"Having WiFi on People Movers would promote public transport usage in a good way and I think a lot of people will eventually leave their cars and use public transport," one durbanite said.
A few users were sceptical, saying people risk having their devices stolen while others believe schools should receive WiFi first. The test period is being used as a proof of concept for possible inclusion in the Go!Durban integrated rapid transport system.
The municipality says using the People Mover as a vehicle for a live working test will be for a limited time only providing free WiFi access to 250 megs daily to commuters during their ride around the city. EThekwini says the testing is over a limited period to validate the proof of concept which might be applied to the Go!Durban system.
