Durban taxi strike: taxi operators, Transport MEC meet

Durban taxi operations are still at a standstill while operators are engaged in meetings with Transport MEC, Willies Mchunu, over permits which operators say they have applied for but have not received.
This has led to a strike that got underway from this morning and there's still no clear indication if it will be over soon.
Metro officers are monitoring movements in the Durban CBD where a number of commuters have been forced to seek possible alternative transport as
Commuters have told Newswatch that they fear they will be stranded this afternoon.
Buses have been arriving in the CBD full to capacity. Those who arrived in taxis this morning are angry that drivers have just dumped them. Others say they were not made aware of the strike. Some have started taking buses home.
