A Durban school associated with the struggle stalwart, Ahmed Kathrada has shared fond memories of the activist.

In 2015, Kathrada launched his book entitled Triumph Of The Human Spirit at Sastri College.
The school's principal Rajan Maharaj has described the night of the book launch as a phenomenal experience.
"It is one that we can learn from. He is always filled with humility. You would never say that he was such a great leader. These are instances that we will remember forever. He was nolstagic on that day and took us through the history of South Africa and he is very much part of the history of South Africa which we will remember for years to come," he said.

At the time Kathrada, explained that the book is about his 300 trips to Robben Island after his release adding that although they were prisoners in Robben Island he doesn't want the time to be remembered as one of suffering and pain.
"[It shows] the importance of Robben Island, for instance, from prison to Parliament to prison. So in the end it reflected victory," he said.
