Durban residents warned against water stockpiling
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has warned residents not to stockpile water.
A system of water rationing is being implemented in the city from Monday due to allow for major repairs following the floods.
"This could collapse the already constrained system," says Kaunda.
From Monday, taps in parts of Durban will only run at specific times of the day as repair work begins on two flood-damaged water pipes.

The repairs are due to last between 10 to 12 months.
Kaunda says water tankers will not be dispatched to cover the rationing period.
"They will only be dispatched to areas experiencing outages as opposed to rational. The public is encouraged to keep reporting leaks so that they can be attended to speedily to minimise water losses."
