Durban real estate scamster appears in court

An alleged real estate scamster has been appearing in court in Durban today, following his arrest this week.

According to police, the 47-year-old man has been posing as an estate agent and posting houses for sale in Umlazi and the greater Durban area on social media.
He was apparently advertising homes without the owners knowing about it.
SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala explains.

"The suspect would make the unsuspecting and desperate clients to sign an offer to purchase agreement on houses by showing them pictures."
The price of the house that was about to be fraudulently sold to different people without the owner's knowledge was R220 000-00.
His laptop, cellphone and fraudulent documents were seized by police.
The suspect was positively linked to a case of fraud that was opened at Durban Central.
