Converging in venues around the city, the seven-day event commences June 23 and will see artists, scientists and academics from around the world integrating their ideas with locals on digital art, research and technology.

Artistic Director, Marcus Neustetter says there'll be first time contributors at the event.

Organisers have teamed up with heads of local festivals, DUT's Digital Festival (DigiFest) and Innovate Durban’s Innovation Festival.

"The main intention of ISEA is to see how it works locally and what it means to get these disciplines together. One of the main components of that is to say how can we collaborate with existing festivals and programmes. We thought this as the best way to ensure that there's longevity to the research and the work that we are doing and creating a legacy project.

"We're pulling them into one week's of activities which we call intersections. This notion is about different disciplines and projects intersecting and benefitting from each other. On the one hand we will have people who've been part of DigiFest for many years while Innovation Festival is an interesting platform for talks and exchanges," Neustetter said.

ISEA2018 ends on Saturday, 30 June where artists will display their artwork inside and over the Durban City Hall.
