Durban police find foreign nationals hiding while searching for body in Umgeni River

Six foreign nationals believed to be in the country illegally, have been arrested after a Durban search and rescue team stumbled upon them along the Umgeni River near Springfield Park.

The SAPS team had been out searching for a body that a passerby had spotted floating in the river on Saturday night.
Police spokesperson, Vishnu Naidoo says on the third day of the search yesterday, they came across the group of migrants.
During the search, six people aged between 18 and 25 years were found hiding alongside the riverbank.

They were immediately arrested for the contravention of the immigration act as well as the regulations of the Disaster Management Act.
They appeared at the Durban Magistrates Court today.
