The man's body was discovered by hotel staff, a few days after a 'No Disturb' sign had been put outside his door.

It is alleged he was a friend to a guest who had booked into the resort, as he was seen entering the premises with the guest, who later left alone.

The police's Thulani Zwane says they are hot on his heels.

"It appears that the man who was found dead was about 28-years-old and was from Durban. As a result, a case of murder was opened by the Point Police Station for further investigation.

"We are on his heels. We will make an arrest very soon as we're still tracking him now," he said.

Meanwhile, authorities are investigating what might have caused a woman in her 60s to take her life by jumping off the sixth floor of an Umhlanga hotel, earlier this week.
