Durban police appeal for information after prisoner escape
An appeal to the public has been made after five prisoners escaped from the Durban Central Police cells.
Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says eight prisoners initially overpowered a policeman yesterday - three have been brought back into custody.

"It is alleged that the commander went to the cells in order to leave other prisoners inside the cell. He was overpowered by other prisoners who took away the key from him.
"The prisoners allegedly locked him inside and they escaped. Three of them were re-arrested. We are appealing to anyone who might have information about their whereabouts to please contact any local police station," he said.
