Durban paramedics give birthday girl a special surprise
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Netcare 911 paramedics in KZN have won the hearts of Livingstone Primary School learners - and especially one little girl - who received the birthday surprise of her dreams today.
The paramedics - who say it's their job to always respond to any call for help - received a special request from the school this week, to make Jenna's (9) day just a little happier.
Her dad is currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and missed her birthday - so Jenna's mom, together with the school, decided to make a call to their local emergency services for some assistance.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says their team of paramedics "jumped into action" after receiving the invitation.
"We arranged with [Jenna's] mom to meet her at the school, but this was done so that she had no idea," he said.
The paramedics arrived in convoy, racing down the street with lights flashing and sirens blazing - much to the glee of jenna and all her school mates.
"She was flabbergasted - with her hand at her head; she was speechless, with a face we will never forget when her mom told her that all this was for her," Botha added.
She was then showered with birthday gifts and special wishes from her new heroes.
