A Durban North family is thankful they were not harmed during a hijacking outside their home in Avoca.
A woman had been reversing out of the property, with her daughter-in-law and 11-month-old granddaughter in the car, when the hijackers pulled up behind them last night.
Rodger Kistnasamy is the homeowner and husband of the woman who had been driving:
A neighbour says they heard screaming and ran down the road to investigate.
He says they were relieved the family was not physically hurt.
"The baby was on the backseat and the mother of the child was also sitting in the back. She got out and pulled the baby out with her. [The hijackers] then drove off with the car," he said.
Police found the car within an hour of it being taken.
