Durban man wanted for murder of ex-girlfriend's son
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Durban police are on the hunt for a Clermont man alleged to have kidnapped and killed his ex-girlfriend's 11-year-old son.
Sphesihle Phewa was taken two weeks ago apparently by his mother's boyfriend after she broke up with him.
Sphesihle's body was discovered only yesterday at a dumping site in KwaDabeka.
This comes as a 24-year-old suspect has appeared in a Nongoma court in connection with the rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl.
Ayanda Buthelezi was killed last week.
Local children's rights advocacy group Bobbi Bear says they have seen a greater number of child murders in the last year.
The group's founder Jackie Branfield says they are doing all they can to curb the scourge.
"It seems that the price of a child's life is nothing. We do a lot of preventative programmes in schools with the relevant authorities.
"So cases like this, when we work so hard at our preventative side of our programme absolutely shatter us," she said.
