A
Pinetown man was hailed a hero on Thursday, after saving a two-year-old from
drowning in an “almost entirely submerged” SUV.
It is understood that the driver of the vehicle veered off the road, crashing down a wall, before it plunged into a neighbour’s swimming pool in Manors, near New Germany.

Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios said the good Samaritan, Ntuthuko Buthelezi was first to respond on the scene. Mathios says the little boy and his family escaped the crash without any injuries.
"He jumped into the swimming pool and pulled out a two-year-old boy who had been travelling in the vehicle with her mother and a relative. Redline Response paramedics responded to the scene of the accident to assist the victims, which fortunately survived the crash without sustaining any injuries," he said.
Speaking to ECRNewswatch, Buthelezi said: “I immediately jumped into the pool, because at that time the water had started to flow into the car. I tried to open the door, [and] after a few attempts I was able to take the little boy out... I'm really happy that I was able to help save someone's life. I thank God for using me.”
