A man in his mid 20s is in a critical condition in a Durban hospital after he was set alight in Ashburton, allegedly during a robbery.
Paramedics say the man, who had been doused with petrol, had sustained severe burns all over his body.
ER24's Russel Meiring says they were called to the scene by a passing motorist late yesterday afternoon.

"The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advance life support intervention before he was transported to a nearby hospital. The patient later told paramedics that he was mugged, doused in petrol then set alight.
"Fortunately, the man was apparently able to extinguish himself. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations," Meiring said.
