Durban man to appear in court after parcel explodes
Updated | By News24
A 31-year-old man is expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court today for contravening the Chemicals Act after a parcel he was carrying exploded moments before he tried to post it, local police said yesterday.
It was not clear whether anyone was injured as a result of the explosion.
KZN police spokesperson, Major Shooz Magudulela, said the man was arrested after he was found with a parcel containing chemicals.
“The parcel allegedly exploded while he was about to post it at the post office at a shopping centre in King Dinizulu Road, Berea. The motive of the incident is unknown,” said Magudulela.
Police did not respond to a query for further detail.
