‘I almost choked on my coffee’ – Durban’s latest lotto millionaire not planning drastic life changes
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A retired Durban man has struck it lucky after bagging himself a R26 million lotto jackpot.

National lottery operator Ithuba says the senior citizen bought his R100 Quick Pick ticket on a banking platform nearly two weeks ago.
Speaking about his win, the man said Lady Luck had smiled down on him.
He said he got an SMS notification that he needed to contact Ithuba, but only when the bank called him did he realised that his fortunes had changed.
He says he was so shocked and overwhelmed that he almost choked on his coffee.
The new multimillionaire has plans for his newfound wealth, with the main focus on a comfortable retirement.
"I do not intend on making drastic life changes. My primary focus is to invest the majority of this money so that my retirement is comfortable. My wife and I will renovate our house, and to spoil ourselves, we will follow the sun to a few tropical islands.
"Most importantly, we will invest in our grandchildren’s education. We believe in education and hard work, so even with this windfall, we still want our grandchildren to go to school and put in the work towards a brighter future.”
