It took firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze in Johanna Road.

Emergency services say some minor injuries were reported including a three-year-old boy who sustained minor burns.

EThekwini Fire's Mervin Govender says those affected have been taken to a place of safety.

"We had a disaster management team that came on scene, they will make provision for blanket and food packs and they will also find arrangements - maybe a community hall or school to house those affected," he said.
