Durban hijacking suspect to remain behind bars

A Durban
man was caught after a alleged hijacking and killing of an eHailing driver will
remain behind bars for the rest of the week.

It is understood that the KwaMashu SAPS on Tuesday night responded to a hijacked silver vehicle along Malandela road and started to hunt the vehicle.
That's when police spotted the car travelling at high speed and pulled it over at a taxi rank.
KZN SAPS's Thenjiswa Ngcobo says the suspect appeared at the Ntuzuma Magistrate Court for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition on Wednesday.

"Three men exited the vehicle and fled on foot, however, police apprehend one suspect who was carrying a bag. Upon searching the bag, police found a .38 revolver as well as 31 rounds of ammunition.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle had been
hijacked after the suspect had shot and killed a 38-year-old e-hailing
driver in Umbilo."
The suspect will appear at the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of murder and carjacking.
