A man has been rushed to hospital after he was shot in the head during an apparent robbery in Durban.

It's understood that Thursday's incident on Rick Turner Road involved a cash-in-transit vehicle.
The victim is believed to be a security guard.
"Paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS and security personnel on the scene, with the scene cordoned off," says ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

"Paramedics were shown to a security officer, believed to be in his thirties, who was in a critical condition, having sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body. Advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the man on the scene before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for the urgent care that he required.
"It is alleged that suspects robbed the guard of money. However, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further."
