A fried chicken outlet in Durban CBD has been shut down.
Authorities say Frendo's Chicken on Dr AB Xuma Street has violated various health and safety regulations.
eThekwini Municipality said inspectors from the City's Health Unit found three different food establishments were operating from the premises.
Municipal spokesperson Gugu Sisilana said there are significant health risks to the public.
"Some of the violations include trading without a valid Certificate of Acceptability, failure to provide records of food handler training, and pest control certification. The establishment also had an absence of supplier records and contravened Section 7(2) of the eThekwini Municipality: Food, Milk, and Milk Products By-Law of 2022.

"There were also structural issues identified, including the lack of an approved building plan and inadequate ventilation. The city’s Health Unit also found unauthorised use of the storeroom for sleeping accommodation and compromised drainage infrastructure."
The city said the metro police has been tasked with preventing the outlet from reopening illegally.
