Durban family injured in home explosion in stable condition

A relative of the Durban family whose members were injured after a parcel bomb exploded in their home, says they are still traumatised by the incident.

Last Friday, a bouquet of flowers were delivered to the Essenwood home of the Khan family. 

The package exploded when 22-year-old Zakaria Khan opened it in the family's lounge - injuring him, his 20-year-old wife Masiha and his grandmother, Sarah Bibi Khan.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Nawshaadh Khan says Sarah Bibi Khan and Zakaria - who's had to undergo surgery -  remain in hospital.

Khan says Masiha has been released while Zakaria is no longer in an induced coma.


The Hawks have taken over the investigation.
