Tristan Augustus and Radley Warner are facing murder and attempted murder.

19-year-old King died at the event earlier this month at People’s Park following a scuffle between two groups of youth in which another young man was also stabbed but survived.

The court says its reason for granting the pair bail is that both are still learners as Augustaus in in grade 11 while Warner is studying at the Umbilo FET College.

It says while justice must be served it is equally important that they do not miss out on their education.

Earlier investigating officer Nasreen Govender took the stand and told the court she believed the two should not be granted bail because they are known to the witnesses and they might interfere with them.

She says Augustus has also  received death threats with a poster bearing the words “Tristan dead man walking" apparently being circulated on social media.

Govender has told the court Warner, kicked King while he was down shortly after being stabbed and then threatened to stab a witness.

The matter will be back in court late next month.
