Durban court sentences man for impersonating cop

A 43-year-old man who impersonated a cop to try and stop a police investigation has been sent to prison.

The National Prosecuting Authority says Rapula Marole was caught offering a R100,000 bribe to the lead investigator.
The incident happened in Durban five years ago.
Spokesperson for the NPA in KwaZulu-Natal Natasha Kara says they welcome the sentence.
"Rapula Kenneth Marole was sentenced to an effective four years and six months imprisonment in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes after he was convicted of corruption and impersonating a police officer.
"Marole was arrested whilst handing over the money to him."
