Durban court construction site invaders’ case postponed
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
Five men who are accused of being part of a so-called 'construction mafia' in Durban have been told to wait in holding cells for a week before they can apply for bail.

They allegedly stormed the Durban High Court's construction site and chased away workers and contractors busy with renovations.
Six of the armed suspects were initially arrested at the site on Margaret Mncadi Avenue but five were charged.

The group faces a number of charges, including intimidation, public violence and destroying essential infrastructure.
"The matter was postponed to the 17th of February for an opposed bail application. That means the accused are currently in custody," says KZN National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara.
