Durban cop accused of killing two women found dead in cell

A Hillcrest police officer -- accused of killing two women he was in a relationship with -- has died, allegedly after taking his own life in prison.
Blessing Sikhakhane was arrested in October after the bodies of 18-year-old Enhle Majola and 24-year-old Sthembile Ngobese were found in his home in Botha’s Hill, west of Durban.
They'd both been shot.
The visible policing officer made several appearances before the Pinetown Magistrate's Court - with the most recent one last week.
Department of Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo says Sikhakhane's body was found in his cell on Saturday.
"Sikhakhane was found hanging in his cell. He was then declared dead by out doctor and nurse and the matter has since been reported to the SAPS."
Sikhakhane previously abandoned his bid for bail, fired his private attorney and succeeded in his application for the Magistrate in the case to recuse herself.
Last week, through new private legal representation, he told the court that he wanted to pursue a bail application.
It was meant to be heard in January.
