A Durban police officer accused of killing his girlfriend will apply for bail at the end of the month.
It's alleged 38-year-old Nhlakanipho Mgwaba stabbed 25-year-old Zamandosi Cele to death at his home in Umlazi last week.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) says the pair is believed to have been quarrelling.
Officials say Mgwaba did not report the incident to police and left early for work the next day, leaving Cele's body locked in his room.
Ipid says later that day, Mgwaba's daughter followed him to his room after he denied her entry and saw a body lying on the floor.
She informed her grandfather who contacted the police.
Mgwaba was arrested and appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court.
His bail application will be heard next week Friday.
