The State Information Technology Agency says the protection of sensitive information online is a key priority.
This as the tenth GovTech conference, which aims to find solutions to ICT problems has begun in Durban today.
SITA CEO Setumo Mohapi says the increasing number of internet users has also come with an increased risk of global threats.
"That is one area that keeps changing everyday. People are always trying to look at ways of accessing data across industries.
"So, we always have to keep improving our systems but we also need to interrogate existing legislation and look at the potential need for enhancement legislation," he said.
