A man arrested at a
suspected chop shop in Umkomaas, on the south coast, will make his first
appearance in court on Thursday morning.

Police were tipped off about a vehicle that was hijacked and later hidden at the house.
Officers from Umkomaas, tracking officials and security personnel made their way to the property yesterday.
Police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says when their team arrived a group of suspects fled in different directions.
She says they managed to arrest a 39-year-old man, who's facing a charge of possession of stolen property.
"It is alleged that the driver was hijacked in Pietermaritzburg and was later dropped off in the Cato Manor where he managed to seek assistance and report the matter.

“Another vehicle was found at the same premises, and it was established that it was stolen in Amanzimtoti during March 2021.
“Further inspection was done in the yard and the team recovered two bakkie load bins hidden behind the house. The initial investigation revealed that stolen vehicles were being stripped at the same premises.”
