Durban cricketers raise money for young cancer patients

The CHOC Foundation in Durban will be able to properly care for another child living with cancer after it received a generous donation from a group of local cricketers.
The Foundation was yesterday presented with a just over R46 000 cheque by the East Coast Eagles, who took part in a 36-hour action cricket marathon last month to raise funds for children diagnosed with the disease.
Team manager, Nick Ferreira, says the amount that was raised exceeded their expectations.
"Initially I thought we would get around close to R30 000 because we charged R800 per game, which in total was about 30 or 32 games over the 36 hours," he said.
"We also did a whole lot of additional fundraising around the events," Ferreira said.
