Durban child pornography case postponed to next week

The case against three suspects facing child pornography related charges has been postponed in the Durban Magistrate's Court where they appeared today.

The trio, aged between 29 and 47, were arrested on Tuesday in the Bluff, Pinetown and Waterfall areas. 


Police say the suspects were found in possession of pornographic material and were tracked down after a US department became suspicious after seeing their online activity.

They say one of the victims is a six-year-old Bluff child whose images were found on the cellphone of one of the suspects. 


The NPA's Natasha Ramkisson says one of the accused faces further charges. 


"Accused one faces a chare of rape, sexual assault as well as sexual exploitation of the child amongst other charges. Accused two and three and accused one face charges of creation, possession and distribution of child pornography," she said. 


The suspects are expected back in court next week Thursday (December 8) for bail application.
