Durban chamber welcomes eThekwini draft budget
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Driving investment into eThekwini Municipality is crucial for economic growth.

That's the view of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry's CEO Dumile Cele. Cele had been speaking yesterday during the city's 2016/17 draft budget presentation at the Durban ICC.
Cele welcomed the budget, saying business is pleased with the allocation on infrastructure and catalytic projects including Point Waterfront, Cornubia and Dube Trade Port.

She's also praised projects aimed at the regeneration of the inner city including Go!Durban.
However, Cele feels more emphasis needs to be placed on small businesses.
"Whilst we speak of catalytic projects, we do believe within those there are plenty small business opportunities as we subcontract into those various projects.
"We are very encouraged by the township development that the city is emphasising and we have enjoyed a partnership with the city taking chamber satellite offices various outlying areas," she said.
